Against the Machine: poetic narratives of technological flux
The creation of a poster series that portrays the concept of "Against the Machine". The use of typography and images in order to design a series of posters that compositionally complement each other while representing the works of the authors and how they reflect the concept.
RESEARCH
As I began my process I started by researching the authors and their works to see how they support the concept of "Against the Machine".
The three poet's ideas reflect the concept in their own unique ways and I combined each of their opinions and ideas to form my concept statement.
The Poets
Concept:
Vacant Humanity—Machine Awakening
After my research on the poets and by analyzing their works, I came up with the concept of "Vacant Humanity—Machine Awakening". In all of their writings, there are themes of machines becoming a vigorous and perpetual force in society, leaving humanity with a loss of identity, sensibility, and consciousness. They express these feelings in their works, their perceptions of the mechanization of humanity, and how they transcend this detachment.

Using a scanner to experiment with type and imagery and creating abstraction and distortion.
